The 2006 Chateau La Croix-Toulifaut Pomerol represents the best of Chateau La's winemaking. This exceptional red is crafted in the heart of Bordeaux, France, benefitng from the local terroir. Featuring Merlot, Cabernet Franc grapes, this selection highlights the unique qualities of its composition. Pairing: A versatile choice for a variety of culinary pairings.
"This blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc is hand harvested from a 1.9 hectare sliver in the prime of the Pomerol appellation, situated between the venerated Chateaux Beauregard and Figeac. 2006 was a noteworthy vintage in the appellation as the early ripening of Merlot spared the vines from heavy rain later in September. Marked by ripe fruit, broad shoulders and youthful tannins in its infancy the Janoueix family, who have owned and operated the estate since 1972, decided to hold this vintage in their cellars for further aging. Now in its prime the nose delights with black fruit, cassis, pencil shavings and autumn leaves. The palate follows with brambly blackberry, cigar box, wild mushrooms and a hint of eucalyptus. Given its 18+ years of age, the wine is elegant, with a silky texture leading to lush, rounded tannins. With only 900 cases produced we are thrilled to have one. Enjoy now with duck roulade topped with morels, or chinese eggplant confit with garlic."
