A standout selection, the 2019 Southold Farm and Cellar The Lovers and The Dreamers showcases the expertise of Southold Farm. This exceptional wine is crafted in the heart of Texas Hill Country, USA, benefitng from the local terroir. Featuring Touriga Nacional, Viognier grapes, this selection highlights the unique qualities of its composition.
"Southold Farm + Cellar is a family-run winery founded by Regan and Cary Meador on the North Fork of Long Island, who uprooted and moved to Gillespie County, Texas in 2016. Working in the High Plains, one of the oldest wine producing regions in the United States (grapes were originally planted in the region by Spanish missionaries in the 1650s), Regan and Cary produce low-intervention, terroir-driven wines. The Lovers and the Dreamers is a co-ferment of 50% Touriga Nacional and 50% Viognier. Touriga Nacional, a bold and lush Portuguese varietal, is tempered by the refreshing fruit and floral notes of the Viognier, which sees two weeks of skin contact, before the two cuvees age together in neutral oak for one year. This Texas field blend is light and fresh, with notes of smokey plum and perfumed lavender, and a touch of funk to boot. Pair with carne guisada or stuffed poblano peppers."
