Bright ruby hue with aromas of violet, raspberry, and pomegranate, accompanied by a subtle leather note. Light-bodied and silky on the palate, featuring flavors of juniper, strawberry, cherry, and a hint of soy, leading to a lively finish. Fun to drink, sappy and cherry-like, with depths and fruit intensity. Vom Kalk means 'from limestone'. Blend of 7 different plots in the Leithaberg DAC, with young vines as well as vines up to 40 years old, some on limestone, some on chalky loam. Dry-farmed and certified organic; hand harvested, destemmed, macerated as whole berries for 7 days, spontaneously fermented, aged 9 months in old wood barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal added sulfites.
